Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery

Posted by Bariatric Center on Tuesday, February 24th, 2009

Nearly all bariatric surgeries can be done using a modestly invasive technique called laparoscopic bariatric surgery. While in surgery, the bariatric surgeons make five or six tiny incisions instead of one large incision to perform the operation. The surgeons use a medical instrument that looks like a telescope, which is positioned in the abdomen after it is filled with air. The laparoscope is then connected to a tiny camera allows the permits to perform the surgery by viewing it on a screen.  This kind of surgery is easier to recover from than the old-style open incision cuts normally done before.
